Detailed final design

Depending upon the complexity of the project this will include some or all of these elements.

The design steps...

I can offer a range of services from suggestions and ideas for replanting a bed or border, a minor revamp of a tired area through to full garden design with project management and planting advice.

Design Consultation

This is the initial meeting where I come and visit you and your garden, to discuss your requirements, brief and budget. It should take around an hour and is free of charge and with no obligation.

I will then produce an initial design brief based upon our discussions, this will be emailed to you along with a breakdown of the design fees and staged payment schedule.

Site Survey

If you decide to go ahead then I will undertake a full site survey, considering the following elements. (Depending upon the scale or type of project some of these elements may be omitted):

• Boundaries and position of any buildings.

• Levels

• Soil analysis, i.e., condition, type, and pH value.

• Aspect

• Site access

• Position and condition of any existing plants that need to be retained.

• Utilities (overhead & underground) and other existing features.

Concept (Draft) proposal

Armed with the results of both the survey and the brief I will produce a concept design proposal. This will be in the form of plans, sketches, mood-boards, and a summary description outlining the layout and style.

These will now form the basis for further discussion and modifications to firm up the overall design, once you are happy with the concept plan, I will start the next stage of producing the final design.

Landscaper tendering

If required, I can suggest some reliable landscapers whose expertise is suitable for the project however it will be your responsibility to obtain quotes and choose a landscaper.

• Final design plans

  Detailed scaled plans showing all elements of the garden and where necessary pictorial 3D views.

• Construction details

  These will specify details of any hard landscaping and structures that are to be built, including any electrical, lighting, and plumbing elements. This includes materials to be used, dimensions and constructional specifications. This information will be used by your landscape builder.

• Planting Plans

  I will provide a plant directory, listing each of the plants complete with photos and their Latin names. This complements the scaled planting plans which show where the plants, trees and shrubs will be located.

• Project monitoring

  If required I can offer project monitoring services, ensuring effective communication with landscapers, nurseries, and other suppliers.

• Planting

  I can be available to provide planting advice.

• Maintenance Plan

  A month-by-month maintenance schedule for the garden, for use by you or your gardener.
