Gardeners' World Live 2024

Share my space - with nature.

I had the most incredible enjoyment and pleasure, (not to mention the trials, tribulations and hard work) whilst creating this garden at Gardeners' World Live garden show at the NEC

I was extremely chuffed to be given a GOLD award!

It was a thrill to be able to meet my gardening heroes and to have the garden featured on the Gardeners' World TV programme.

This garden had two roles: Firstly, to show that it is possible to create a garden that is wildlife friendly without having to undertake a complex re-wilding project. Secondly to show that such a garden can be just as pleasant and enjoyable to be in as a more traditional garden.

The planting was also aimed at two different micro-climates: one that is shaded by trees or buildings and the other dry & sunny.

These different areas are also planted in two contrasting styles, with the shady area being more naturalistic with ferns, Hosta and other shade loving plants. While the sunny area is in a more contemporary style with drought tolerant plants in a gravel mulch.

A COR-TEN steel gabion planted with succulents and filled with material that provides shelter for insects. There is also a dead hedge and two micro-ponds.
